HELLO MINI-TURDS

I am starting a blog! 

Why? 

Because I need to scream into the void whenever I think about something that seems interesting to me 
(hopefully it will be interesting to other people)

I'm hoping it will help me to organise my thoughts on various things - I'll probably post a mixture of random snippets, technical details of stuff I make, rambling political tracts and probably trying out some parts of the PhD I'm doing at UCD with Seán Clancy. 

And hopefully people will read and maybe comment 

Why not on Substack? I thought about making a substack account but I decided that it makes more sense to keep everything "off-platform" because so much of my work is internet-based. In times where the platforms are increasingly ENSHITTIFIED, it seems like adopting new platforms because I want to work in a new medium is a bad idea. Running it here keeps proprietary algorithms away from the way people interact with my music - and it also helps keep afloat the idea of an internet built on the multi-way propagation of hyperlinks. That seems worthwhile! I can also let people follow links, tags etc. through my work (and outwards when I link to other people's work) without them being distracted by DANK MEMZ or whatever the kids say now

Btw, full disclosure: I was able to make a functioning blog with comments, tags etc. in about 90 minutes with the help of Google's Gemini, and plug it in to my own website. So it's not like I'm some kind of digital saint...
